For schools, vaping has moved beyond a student behavioral problem and into a health problem. A wave of illnesses has crashed into the vaping community, even causing death in a few instances. As of September 26, 2019, there have been over 800 cases of lung injury in 46 states and 1 U.S. territory. Around 70 cases of lung injuries have been confirmed in the state of Illinois. Twelve deaths have been confirmed in 10 states. All reported cases have a history of e-cigarette product use or vaping. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you consider refraining from using e-cigarettes or vaping products. Please speak with your young adult about the dangers of using these products. For more information you can go to cdc.gov or read their article entitled, "Outbreak of Lung Injury Associated with E-Cigarette Use, or Vaping."
