Scholar Bowl

Ranked 5th among 29 IHSA Class A local teams in their Sectional, the Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School scholar bowl team extended its winning streak today to 9 games. The Wildcats (15-2) won both varsity matches in a road match with the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals (11-9) by scores of 290-90 and 170-70. Carrier Mills-Stonefort remains in 1st place in the Greater Egyptian Conference. 

In the first varsity match, junior Jade Nalley led the Wildcats with 150 points. Senior captain Brianna Cullers scored 80, junior Carson VanDyke and sophomore Brayden Harmon each scored 20, and seniors Kaylee Klope and Devyn Valdez each scored 10. In the second varsity match, Nalley again led the Wildcats with 90 points. Cullers scored 70, and VanDyke scored 10. 

The JV Wildcats split their matches with NCOE, winning 150-120 and losing 120-100. In the JV Wildcats’ 150-120 win, Harmon led the team with 60 points. VanDyke scored 40, sophomore Brayden Kirk scored 30, and sophomore Bailee Odum scored 20. In the JV Cats’ 120-100 loss, Kirk led the team with 40 points. Harmon and VanDyke each scored 30. The Wildcats are off until next Wednesday Feb. 21, when they host Thompsonville for a varsity-only doubleheader.
