Student Registration

Carrier Mills-Stonefort Community Unit School District #2, has announced registration dates and opening dates for the 2024-2025 school year. Registration Information – All parents are required to sign an affidavit of residency.

All Carrier Mills-Stonefort students (K-12th) will register at the Grade School the week of July 22, 2024. Registration dates and times are as follows: Monday, July 22 from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm, Tuesday, July 23 from 7:30-12:00, Wednesday, July 24 from 7:30-12:00, Thursday, July 25 from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm, and Friday, July 26 from 7:30 am-11:30 am. Grade School parents are asked to pay a consumable fee of $40.00 and High School fees (which depend on the classes your young adult takes) on registration day. The school secretary will be prepared that day to receive money and issue receipts. All forms must be completed by the parents before the student will be allowed to register. The CMSF Student Handbook/Code of Conduct is available on the school website at cmsfcats.org.

Kindergarten will operate on a full-day schedule on a daily basis. Kindergarten students must be at least five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2024 to enter school.

Grade School students may drop off their school supplies during “Meet Your Teacher Night,” on Friday, August 9 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

High School schedules will be available for students during “Meet Your Teacher Night,” on Thursday, August 8 from 5:00-6:00. High School fees:

Instructional Materials - $8.00 per credit

Enrichment/Locker Rental - $1.00 for a locker and $5.00 per lock

Driver Ed. - $48.00 per student

Agricultural & Horticultural Class Fee - $28.00 per student

Student Parking Permit - $10.00 per semester

Student parking spaces will be assigned on Friday, August 16. To be eligible for the drawing for a parking space, the student must have paid the first semester fee and turned in proof of car insurance, current registration and valid driver’s license to the office. Parents and students must have completed the random drug testing for drivers form to be able to park on school property.

The Waiver of Fee forms are available for eligible students in each building office.

Student accident insurance forms will be issued on registration day. School time and full time policies are available. All students planning to participate in any school sponsored athletic activities and all driver education students will need to provide proof of insurance. The students may purchase the student accident insurance or provide proof of other insurance coverage.

Attendance centers are as follows: Kindergarten, grades 1- 4, Early Childhood, At Risk, and primary special education are located in the west wing of the grade school on Furlong Street. Grades 5-8 and intermediate/junior high special education are located in the east wing of the grade school on Furlong Street. Grades 9-12 are located in the high school on US Route 45.

Meet Your Teacher Night- The CMSF Grade School will host a “Meet Your Teacher Night” on Friday, August 9 from 4:00-5:00 pm. This will give you and your child the opportunity to bring in your child’s school supplies, meet your child’s teacher, and tour the classroom. The Jr. High students will be allowed to put their school supplies in their locker, receive their schedule, and go through the schedule to meet with all of their teachers.

Also, the CMSF High School will host a “Meet Your Teacher Night” on Thursday, August 8 from 5:00-6:00 pm. This will give you and your young adult the opportunity to put their school supplies in their locker, receive their schedule, tour the school, and go through the schedule to meet with all of their teachers.

Back-to-School Bash- The Carrier Mills-Stonefort REACH Team will sponsor a Back-to-School Bash on Friday, August 9 from 5:00-7:00 pm on the Grade School Playground. With the assistance of the Caring for Kids program, the local fire department, the local police department, several local churches, Marion Eye Center, and the Egyptian Health Department we will offer free burgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, snow cones, yard games, bouncy houses, haircuts, school supplies, eye exams, face painting, music, and lots of other giveaways. Please join us for this Back-to-School Bash on August 9 from 5:00-7:00 pm!

First Day of School- The first day of student attendance is Monday, August 12. Grade School students will report to the gymnasium at 8:00 am. High School students will report to the gymnasium at 8:00 a.m. School will dismiss at 3:00 pm on this Monday.

Bus Service- Regular bus runs will begin on Monday, August 12 and will follow last year’s routes and times. Those students living in Stonefort will be picked up at designated pick-up points. Parents and students are reminded that all students should be at their designated pick-up points ready to step on the bus when it arrives. Drivers are not obligated to wait. Buses will unload on Friend Street east of the grade school. Please be reminded it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus from either direction. For safety of students, other vehicles should remain a safe distance when buses are present. Any questions regarding bus service can be answered by calling Robinson Transportation at (618) 252-6577.

Lunch/Breakfast- The grade school (K-8) will be closed campus again this year. Students will not be allowed to leave school grounds during lunch time. In addition to the cafeteria program, students do have the option to bring their lunch from home or arrange to have their lunch delivered.

The high school (9-12) will continue to have open campus. Students may leave the school grounds during lunch time. High School students do have the option to have a school lunch which is delivered to the high school from the grade school cafeteria. The school lunch and breakfast program will begin Monday, August 12, the first student attendance day. Regular schedule lunch periods are as follows: Kindergarten-2nd Grades are 11:00-11:40; 3rd-5th grades are 11:30-12:10; 6th-8th grades are 12:10-12:50; 9th-12th grades are 12:38-1:18. All grade school (K-8th) and high school (9th-12th) students are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. High School student breakfast prices are $1.50 or $.30 for those eligible for reduced prices and lunch prices are $2.95 per meal or $.40 for those eligible for reduced prices. Adult breakfasts are $1.90 and adult lunches are $3.35. Forms to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price meals may be picked up in the office. The form must be completed in its entirety, signed and returned to school before eligibility can be determined. Parents are encouraged to pay for high school student meals on a daily basis or in advance. A maximum charge limit of $50 for meals is in effect. Parents will be notified by mail if their student’s meal bill reaches $40.

ü  Vision Exam – Comprehensive vision exam that includes a minimum of: History, visual acuity, subjective refraction to best visual acuity near and far, internal and external examination, and glaucoma evaluation by October 15, 2024.

2nd Grade:

ü  Dental exam by May 15, 2024

6th Grade:

ü  Physical (can accept physicals done up to 1 year prior to September 14, 2024)

ü  All immunizations must be up to date, including new Meningitis and Tdap vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and meningitis- requires written proof from a physician)

ü  Dental exam by May 15, 2025

9th Grade:

ü  Physical (can accept physicals done up to 1 year prior to September 14, 2024)

ü  All immunizations must be up to date

ü  Dental exam by May 15, 2025

12th Grade:

ü  2nd Meningitis vaccine by October 15, 2024.

Waivers can be obtained for hardship or difficulty in accessing dental and/or vision care. Consult the certified school nurse at the grade school for further information.

Extra-Curricular Activities, Driver’s Education, and Student Drivers- High School students and parents must complete the 2024-2025 Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Consent Form for Student Drivers and Extra-Curricular Activities Form for driver’s education, extracurricular participation, and parking on school property at the beginning of the school year. This form will be available at registration. Also, any student who intends to participate in a school sponsored athletic activity must have proof of insurance, a yearly sports physical on file, and a completed IHSA banned substance form on file prior to participation.
