Scholar Bowl Team 2024

In their first Greater Egyptian Conference match of the season, the Carrier Mills-Stonefort The CMSF High School Wildcats scholar bowl team swept the Galatia Bearcats on the road on October 24. The varsity Wildcats came back from an 80-40 deficit after 4 rounds to win 350-190. The Wildcats are now 2-0 on the season and were led by senior captain Jade Nalley, who scored a career-high 230 points.

The JV Wildcats (1-1) needed overtime to secure their first win of the season, 140-120. Down 120-110 on the final tossup question, sophomore Olivia Hunt tied the game, correctly answering that Microsoft Edge, Safari, Google, and Mozilla Firefox are all browsers. Hunt then won the game for the JV Wildcats in the 1st round of overtime, correctly stating that John Deere invented the steel plow and that Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod. JV freshman captain Khloe Kidd led the JV Wildcats with 50 points. Hunt and freshman Summer Janaskie each scored 30, freshman Maddison Ellis scored 20, and freshman Brielle Fox scored 10.

In the varsity match, Nalley scored 230, senior Mortikai Celestino scored 80, senior Carson VanDyke scored 20, and junior Brayden Harmon scored 20. The Wildcats are off until next Friday, Nov. 1, when they travel to Gallatin County.
