This is a message to all Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Seniors: Your original date of Graduation is getting closer each day. Although we will not be able to celebrate your accomplishments and hold your graduation on May 8, we will have a town-wide parade in your honor. I hope you are all planning on attending. Here are the last set of instructions for the event:
Seniors, you are responsible for your own vehicle and decorating that vehicle (only one senior per car to adhere to the social distancing rules). You should have completed a Graduation Parade form and returned it to the Carrier Mills Water Department or emailed the completed form to Mayor Shaw (lpshaw1@yahoo.com).
We passed out caps and gowns the week of May 4. If you have yet to pick up your cap and gown, please call between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm May 4-8, and let us know you are on your way to the High School. We will have your cap and gown waiting for you.
On May 8, all Seniors will meet at the high school at 5:30 pm in their caps and gowns. Due to the social distancing rules we ask that only the seniors report to the parking lot and all seniors must stay in their cars.
Mr. Jerrell will line you up in alphabetical order in the parking lot. You will then follow him to the start of the parade. The parade will start in front of the Grade School parking lot (where the Catskin Days Parade begins).
Spectators may sit in front of their houses, in lawn chairs (6 feet apart), or in their cars along the streets. We strongly recommend you stay in your car and park along the parade route. This will allow everyone to enjoy the parade, stay safe, and you can listen to the WEBQ broadcast of the event.
The parade will begin at 6:00 pm. The parade route will be:
Drive North on Main Street to Trammel Street.
Turn onto Trammel and head west to Mill Street.
Go south on Mill Street to Route 45.
Turn East on Route 45 and turn into the high school parking lot.
The Carrier Mills and Stonefort police and fire departments will lead the parade.
WEBQ will be parked at the beginning of the parade, and they will announce the seniors and junior marshals, their accomplishments, and the activities they participated in during high school. Those sitting in their vehicles can listen to these announcements on WEBQ 1240 AM or WEBQ 102.3 FM. The Daily Register will also be in attendance to take pictures for the newspaper.
The parade will end at the CMSF High School, where each Senior will be handed a dinner in a to-go container, a graduation gift, and their 8th Grade letter.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Keep Learning, Go Wildcats!
