The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Class of 2020 were honored on May 8 at 6:00 pm with a Graduation Parade. Practicing social distancing, the students met in their vehicles at the CMSF High School, were lined up for the parade, and drove to the start of the festivities, which began at the CMSF Grade School.
The celebration began with the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Police Chief leading the way, his vehicle decorated with the banners of two very special students, the late Devan Lore and the late Shelby Nielsen. Two Carrier Mills and Stonefort Fire Trucks followed with their sirens blasting and their lights flashing. This was followed by a third fire truck, playing "Pomp & Circumstance" just ahead of the students. The Junior Marshals led the line of graduates (the top two students in the junior class), the graduates followed (in alphabetical order), and then the final two junior marshals rounded out the procession.
During the parade, the community lined the streets in their vehicles, and listened to the WEBQ broadcast of the event. Mr. Sherman Owens, from WEBQ Radio, announced the Junior Marshals, the graduating seniors, and their accomplishments and scholarships.
At the end of the parade, Mrs. Tabitha Mitchell, CMSF Student Council Sponsor, provided the parade participants with a to-go dinner, Mr. Ryan Beck and members of his church provided each senior with a graduation gift, Mrs. Jodie Robertson gave the seniors graduation cards from the community, and the seniors were given their 8th grade letters to read (these were letters the students wrote to their future selves before their 8th grade Promotion Ceremony).
