Dear Parents/Guardians,
I want to make you aware of a situation in the Carrier Mills-Stonefort School District. We had a teacher identified in one of our high school classrooms at the CMSF High School as being positive for COVID. The last day this teacher was in the building was Tuesday, October 20th and we were notified on Thursday, October 22nd of the positive test.
The district immediately called the Egyptian Health Department and started a tracing investigation with the teacher, nurse, and administration. After that investigation it was discovered that several other students were considered “close contacts” and those families have been notified. The District along with the Egyptian Health Department are confident that we have followed all necessary protocols and have followed the needed procedures to contain the issue and minimize exposure to students. We will continue to complete extensive cleaning and sterilizing of rooms in both buildings and rooms each night, as we do every night. There is no evidence that any other building or classrooms were impacted. We will increase our daily cleaning and sterilization steps in both buildings as a precaution.
While this is unfortunate we all knew at some time we would face this type of situation. While we want none of our students to be impacted, we just need to make sure we are diligent in our practices when this does happen. We have followed all protocol handed down by the agencies involved and feel this has been contained and have been able to minimize the impact. We will continue to work with our local agencies to ensure the best possible learning environment for our students.
Please call either school and ask for Mrs. Shaina Craig, Mrs. McGuire, Mr. Kerley, Mrs. Kuhlmann, or Mr. Jerrell if you have any additional questions. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Your Partner In Education,
Mr. Bryce K. Jerrell
