Basketball Champions

The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School just completed their third PBIS Event of the year. Homeroom Challenge #3: The Basketball Competition took place the week of November 30. This homeroom challenge consisted of four different events.

Event #1 was a team competition. Each class was challenged to have all of their school work completed by November 24. The Junior Class had the highest percentage of classmates that completed all their work on time, so they were awarded 10 points for the first event. The Sophomore Class was 2nd Place (8 points), the Seniors finished in 3rd Place (6 points), and the Freshmen Class were 4th (4 points).

Event #2 was a speed dribbling competition. Five chairs were spread out the length of the floor and each class had one student that competed. In the girls' contest, Sophomore Abbi Musgraves was 1st, Junior Emma Odum was 2nd, Freshman Honey Rose was 3rd, and Senior Baliee Wright was 4th. In the boys' competition, Junior Colton Mitchell won 1st Place, Sophomore Robbie Hadley was 2nd, Freshmen Kaden Shaw was 3rd, and Senior Rielly Ward was 4th.

Event #3 was a speed passing competition. Five classmates were placed in a line from one baseline to the other baseline. In the girls' competition, the Senior Class was 1st, the Freshmen were 2nd, the Junior Class was 3rd, and the Sophomores were 4th. The winning team consisted of Victoria Walker, Devanie Stout, Jade Hill, Bailee Wright, and Leia Bryant. In the boys' contest, the Junior Class won 1st Place, the Freshmen were 2nd, the Sophomore Class was 3rd, and the Seniors were 4th. The Junior winners consisted of Nathan Collins, Caden VanMeter, Zavier Rollins, Jacob Reeves, and Braden Snodgrass.

Event #4 was a hot shot competition. Each participant had sixty seconds to make as many baskets as they could. Six spots were marked on the floor and each spot had a different point amount (the farther away from the basket, the more points the shot was worth). The scores for the girls' competition were: (Freshmen Class) Layna Odum (8 points) and Honey Rose (16), (Sophomore Class) Brianna Funaro (12) and Anna Sturgill (15), (Junior Class) Emma Odum (14) and Halle Lane (22), and (Senior Class) Jade Hill (34) and Leia Bryant (14). The scores for the boys' competition were: (Freshmen Class) Lane Boaz (10 points) and Brody Morris (11), (Sophomore Class) Robbie Hadley (15) and Caleb Roski (19), (Junior Class) Caden VanMeter (18) and Aiden Rollins (8), and (Senior Class) Jeremy Choat (43) and Sotte Godsey (19). Senior Jade Hill won the Girls' Hot Shot Award with 34 points and Senior Jeremy Choat won the Boys' Hot Shot Award with 43 points.

After all the points were added together, it was the Senior Class, Kuhlmann's Killaz, with 138 points, finishing in 1st Place. Eisenhauer's Giant Killers (Juniors) finished in 2nd Place with 106 points, DeNeal's Destroyers (Sophomore Class) were 3rd with 97 points, and Ryan's Renegades (Freshmen) were in 4th Place with 77 points.

Coach Kuhlmann was awarded the Victory is Ours trophy and Kuhlmann's Killaz received the championship belts for their victory.
